Social & Material Support

We are currently looking for support and sponsors to help us with the tour of “Bacanal Chipote”, a play about the repression of the protests in Nicaragua and the end of an ideological era. We will be touring this play to seven Dutch cities in the period April-June 2019. The group that will be traveling consists of five Nicaraguan actors who all actively participated in the protests, both as students and autoconvocados (self-convened protesters). Note that the proceeds of the 2019 tour will both help the exiled theatre group and go toward the Committee of Family Members of Political Prisoners (as part of the permanent campaign for the liberation and support of Nicaragua’s political prisoners “Nicaragua Libre Sin Presxs Politicxs”).

You can also sponsor us with (old) material: we very much welcome electronic (theater) equipment such as lighting, cables, and audiovisual equipment. We also welcome school, theater, and office equipment. Donations of (Spanish) books are also very welcome as we have an office and reading room in Nicaragua (which we have had to close due to the protests but hope to re-open) and regularly loan our in-prison theater members books. We are also supporting a book initiative for political prisoners, so any creative material/books are welcome!

LLECA believes in the necessity of knowledge exchange and the art of learning. The creation of an interdisciplinary international experimental theater network is pivotal to the real establishment of a Center for Experimental Acting. Are you active in the performing arts? Do you work with arts in prison? Or do you work with an artistic organization, community, stage, school or group? And do you want to join a growing group of interdisciplinary and/or experimental Nicaraguan artists? In short, do you want to help establish an international experimental acting network? Lleca Teatro also offers a platform to national and international theater artists, connecting you with venues to perform at in Nicaragua. We also welcome any and all other artistic disciplines to our laboratory. We are eager to learn, exchange, and work, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Agradecemos especialmente donaciones de libros en castellano ya que tenemos una pequeña biblioteca en nuestras oficinas (que tuvimos que cerrar debido a las persecución pero esperamos volver a abrir) y regularmente prestamos libros a los privados de libertad.

LLECA cree en la necesidad del intercambio de conocimiento y el arte de aprender. La formación de una red de teatro experimental interdisciplinaria e internacional es clave para el establecimiento de un verdadero Centro de Actuación Experimental.
